You will not fly into Liechtenstein — there is no airport. Almost everyone arrives via Zurich, which means a train or a car through Switzerland, and Switzerland is not in the EU or EEA roaming zone. If it is “a week in Malbun with day trips”, you will cross into Switzerland and Austria repeatedly and a Europe regional plan is the sensible answer. Given the size of the country, you are never more than a few kilometres from coverage — but on a ridge that is not the same as having it.
The border reality, in numbers
Liechtenstein is 25 km long and 12 km wide at its widest. The Rhine is the Swiss border and you can see across it from most of the country. Buses cross to Buchs and Sargans in Switzerland and Feldkirch in Austria constantly, and the ski area at Malbun sits against the Austrian frontier.
Practically: your phone will find Swiss and Austrian masts inside Liechtenstein, and a Liechtenstein plan has no service on those. Keep your home SIM’s data roaming off and the worst case is a momentary gap rather than a charge. If you are moving across borders daily, stop buying single-country plans for this trip.
The honest caveat: your internet exits in France or the Netherlands
