When does my Kathmandu eSIM activate?+
On its first connection to a local network, in practice when you switch off flight mode at KTM. Not when you pay.
Can I buy it weeks before the trip?+
Yes. It stays dormant until it first connects, so buying it together with the flight is fine.
Should I buy a SIM card at the airport instead?+
You can, but it means queueing after a flight and paying whatever the counter asks. An eSIM bought beforehand is already working before you reach passport control.
Which devices are compatible?+
Any eSIM-capable handset: iPhone XS and newer, recent Samsung Galaxy, Pixel 3 and newer. Dial *#06#. If an EID number appears, you are good to go.
Can I extend it if I stay longer?+
Often yes. While the eSIM is still active, open your personal eSIM page (the link is in your delivery email) and you will see there whether extra days can be added to your plan. If they can't, another eSIM for the same destination arrives by email and installs alongside the one you already have.
