If your contract is with a carrier in an EU or EEA country, “roam like at home” already covers Cyprus at no surcharge, subject to your operator’s fair-use policy — you probably do not need to buy anything. This guide is for travellers from the UK, the US, Canada, Australia, Brazil and everywhere else the rule does not reach, and for long-stay visitors whose home allowance runs out in week two.
1. This plan covers the Republic of Cyprus
It roams on Vodafone and Epic, both Republic of Cyprus networks. Northern Cyprus runs on different operators entirely — Turkish ones — and is not part of this roaming agreement. If your trip includes crossing the Green Line into the north, whether for a day in Kyrenia or a drive to Famagusta, do not assume your data follows you. Ask us before you buy if that crossing is on your itinerary rather than discovering it at the checkpoint.
2. Your internet exits in the United States
Unusually for a European destination, this plan is home-routed through the United States — every other European plan we sell breaks out in France or the Netherlands. So websites will see an American address while you are sitting in Paphos. Practical effects: Cypriot and European geo-locked services may refuse, your bank may find the combination odd, and latency to European servers is noticeably higher than on our other European plans. The fair-use number, stated openly
Cyprus Unlimited allows 5 GB per day at full speed, then continues at 384 Kbps until the next day resets. Five gigabytes is a heavy travel day — maps, messaging, social media and a few videos rarely come close. Note that Cyprus steps down harder than our other European plans — 384 Kbps rather than 512. At the reduced speed maps, messaging, tickets and email still work; HD video does not.
Coverage across the island
The Cyprus eSIM roams on Vodafone (5G) and Epic (5G), choosing whichever is stronger. Coverage across the Republic is comprehensive: Nicosia, Limassol, Larnaca, Paphos, Ayia Napa and Protaras all have strong 5G, and the coast roads and the Troodos foothills are reliable.
The honest gaps are in the Troodos mountains — the higher trails around Mount Olympus and some of the deeper valleys — and along the more remote stretches of the Akamas peninsula, which is exactly where the good beaches and the hiking are. Download the island offline before you drive up.

Cyprus is a driving island; public transport exists but is sparse outside the cities, and most visitors hire a car. Google Maps does the work, with the reminder that Cyprus drives on the left — a genuine surprise for continental European visitors, and one more reason to have navigation running rather than guessing at a junction.

Getting online, step by step
