Most travelers should look at neither: Holafly’s Vietnam page lists unlimited plans only. Six lengths, side by side
Holafly publishes six trip lengths for Vietnam — 3, 5, 7, 10, 15 and 30 days. Those are the lengths that can be compared like for like, so those are the only ones in this article. On the first four, AeroSims is cheaper: $11.64 against $11.90, $19.01 against $20.50, $26.06 against $27.50, $36.04 against $36.50. None of those is a landslide — the spread runs from 26 cents to $1.49 — but it is the same direction four times in a row, and on a week in Vietnam it is roughly the price of a bowl of phở and a coffee.
Then it turns. At 15 days Holafly is 58 cents cheaper — $50.50 against our $51.08, close enough that it should not decide anything on its own. At 30 days Holafly’s $73.90 beats our $94.29 by more than twenty dollars, and that one is not close at all. If a full month of unlimited data is genuinely what you want, Holafly is the cheaper way to buy it, and we would rather write that down than hope you do not check.
What we would add is that a month of unlimited is rarely what a Vietnam trip actually needs. That is the comparison where the real money sits — and it is one Holafly cannot enter, because it does not sell fixed packages for Vietnam.
What Holafly includes, fairly stated
Two things on Holafly’s side that a price table alone would hide. Its plans allow hotspot sharing — the site’s own wording is “Share 1 GB of data per day with family, friends, or fellow travelers” — and every plan includes 1 GB of monthly backup data it calls “Always On”. Its refund window is also longer than ours on paper: Holafly states that a refund can be requested for up to six months, subject to its conditions, where AeroSims offers a 30-day money-back guarantee on eSIMs you haven’t installed yet. Shorter, but with a different shape: ours is unconditional only before installation — pick whichever of those two you actually value.
The option Holafly doesn’t have: fixed data packages
For Vietnam, Holafly’s page lists unlimited plans only. If your usage is normal — Grab to the hotel, maps through the Old Quarter, uploading the lantern shots from Hoi An — a fixed package is the rational buy, and it is not close:

That $13.90 for 10 GB is roughly half a single week of unlimited from either provider, and the $25.90 for 20 GB undercuts Holafly’s cheapest month of unlimited by nearly fifty dollars. “Unlimited” fine print: what fair use really means
Every unlimited travel eSIM has a fair-use policy, set by the local network. The same applies to the AeroSims plan. After a daily high-speed allowance the connection continues at a reduced speed until the next day — maps and messaging keep working; streaming gets slow.
Holafly does not publish a fair-use threshold on its product page. Neither plan is infinite — the honest question is whether your usage would ever notice, and on a normal day of navigation, chat and social it almost certainly would not.
Why not just buy a SIM at the airport?
You can — the SIM counters at Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City’s airports are famous, and local prices are genuinely low. But it means queueing after a long-haul landing, handing over your passport for registration, swapping out your home SIM (goodbye, banking SMS codes), and landing data-less until it’s done — the exact moment you need Grab and a hotel address most. An eSIM installed at home flips that: you clear immigration, toggle it on, and the first ride is already booked before you reach the taxi rank. Roaming on your home plan is the worst of the three options — most US, UK, EU and Australian carriers treat Vietnam as an out-of-zone destination billed per megabyte or per day-pass, and those day passes often cost more than an entire week of local eSIM data.
Coverage: cities, coastline and the bay
