If your contract is with a carrier in an EU or EEA country, “roam like at home” already covers Lithuania at no surcharge, subject to your operator’s fair-use policy — you probably do not need to buy anything. The fair-use number, stated openly
Lithuania Unlimited allows 5 GB per day at full speed, then continues at 512 Kbps until the next day resets. Five gigabytes is a heavy travel day — maps, messaging, social media and a few videos rarely come close. At the reduced speed maps, messaging, tickets and email still work; HD video does not.
Which networks you actually connect to
The Lithuania eSIM roams on Telia (5G) and Tele2 (5G), switching to whichever is stronger. Coverage is strong across Vilnius, Kaunas, Klaipėda and Šiauliai, and reliable in Trakai, along the coast at Palanga and Nida, and at the Hill of Crosses.
The Curonian Spit — the sand bar running south from Klaipėda — has service in Nida, Juodkrantė and along the road, and thins out in the dunes and the forest between villages. The Aukštaitija and Dzūkija forests are the other genuinely quiet places.
One habit that makes border regions free
Phones do not respect borders. Near a frontier they can register on a network on the other side, and that network is not part of this plan — the Curonian Spit runs south into Russian Kaliningrad, and Lithuania also borders Belarus, so this is a country where the habit actually earns its keep. It costs you nothing as long as your home SIM’s data roaming stays off — the travel eSIM simply has no service for a moment, rather than your home carrier quietly billing you for one. The honest caveat: your internet exits in France or the Netherlands
Like most travel eSIMs, this one is home-routed. Your phone attaches to a Lithuanian mast, but your traffic reaches the public internet through a gateway in France or the Netherlands. Websites see a French or Dutch address, so anything geo-locked to Lithuanian — LRT’s player and some Lithuanian banking portals — may refuse.
