Two things changed after Brexit. UK networks were free to reintroduce charges for their own customers travelling into the EU — and, more relevant to you, the EU’s “roam like at home” rules no longer legally cover the United Kingdom. Some European carriers still include the UK voluntarily; plenty quietly moved it into a paid zone. The only way to know is to read your own tariff, and the only way to be safe is to not depend on it.

The fair-use number, stated openly

Which networks you actually connect to

The honest caveat: your internet exits in France or the Netherlands
This is the part almost nobody publishes, so here it is plainly. Like most travel eSIMs, the UK plan is home-routed: your phone connects to a British mast, but your data traffic surfaces on the public internet through a gateway in France or the Netherlands. Practical consequences:
• Websites will treat you as being in the EU, not the UK. Anything geo-locked to a British IP address — BBC iPlayer, ITVX, some UK betting and banking portals — will most likely refuse to play or ask you to verify your location.
• Latency is slightly higher than on a local SIM. Fine for video calls and browsing; competitive gamers will notice.
• Your bank’s fraud checks may see a European IP alongside a UK phone. Keeping your home SIM active for SMS codes avoids most of this.
