Which network you connect to

The ferry is the thing to know
The airport is on Petite-Terre and Mamoudzou, the main town, is on Grande-Terre. Between them runs the barge — a frequent ferry that carries everything and everyone, and whose timetable and disruptions are the single most useful thing to be able to check on a phone here. It is also the first thing a visitor gets wrong.
Beyond that, Mayotte is a driving island with limited public transport, and mapping data is thinner than in mainland France. Download the island offline before you leave the airport.
The honest caveat: your internet exits in France or the Netherlands
